About

THE SHOP:

CheekyHotBox opened in April of 2020 with the purpose of providing one of a kind home decor and stash ware. The shop currently operates out of Texas, but will transition to Colorado in the fall. Our goal is to provide thoughtful and forever gifts for your family,

friends, and of course- for yourself.

Our shop logo, cover art, and peach and plum characters are by the wonderful @abb.elise - go support her! Other digital drawings are done by me... the shop owner ↴

THE OWNER:

My name is Cass Kennemur and I am a 19 year old artist and college student from the suburbs of Dallas, TX. I've been obsessed with arts and crafts ever since I was little. My mom could hand me some paint, construction paper, glue, and some scissors and that was all it took for me to be locked up in my room for hours. I loved any and every creative school project, especially the ones that I could use to convince my parents to take me to any craft store so I could get lost in the isles. As I got older I realized that I also really loved to draw and doodle, but that I didn’t necessarily find satisfaction in working on flat, 2D surfaces.

Although I was (and still am) quite the nerd in high school, I found the time to open an Etsy shop selling stickers with my best friend. PolarizePrints did relatively well, surpassing 2,000 orders in its first two years. Not only did our stickers allow people to customize their items however they wanted, but our stickers were also present at pride festivals, TV show events, and conventions. Unfortunately, when we both went off to college, our shop came to an end. PolarizePrints allowed me to obtain the feel of running an online business and made me aware of the many issues and hardships that small-business owners must handle. I learned so much about an entire new side of the arts industry and expanded my material and ability reach. Being able to make ANY shape or image into stickers  caused me to begin making gifts for friends and family with my materials. I began with stickers, but quickly began making pins, magnets, and more.  I loved using various materials and textures in my gifts, often adding felt, jewels, rocks, and photos to add a personal, intimate touch.

Now an Environmental Physics major in college with a pretty hectic life, I think that CheekyHotBox will allow me to continue investing in my skills as an artist. I also want to be able to use my art as an outlet. Sometimes a way to get away from all that is going on in the world is needed. I hope that when you're holding something I made for you that you feel the same energy. Thanks for visiting my shop ♡
